Hi. I am Jennifer James, the founder of Mom Bloggers Club, the largest global network for mom bloggers, and Mom Bloggers for Social Good, a platform that allows mom bloggers to spread the word about non-profits and NGOs that are doing great work around the world.
Here I talk about global good products and services for people who love living, but living with a great cause
Last week I traveled to four cities in one week: Washington, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Chattanooga. Of course, I loved Washington most. Who wouldn’t? Next to New York and Chicago, it’s my third most beloved city. The history, hotels, restaurants, political vibe, and diversity are unparalleled. It’s my kind of place! And since my mother lives in Arlington, VA we are there often.
If you follow my tweets and writings on my other web properties you know I was in DC to attend ONE’s “Why Bother” vaccines campaign press conference. And if you’ve followed my tweets you also know I, along with the other members of the ONE Mom Advisory Council, am going to Kenya this July.
Even though I was on the move last week traveling frantically from city to city and then experiencing delays upon delays due to the tornadoes that ravaged the south I still took photos of my Washington, DC leg to share with you. You’ll see photos from the sky as I was flying into DC on one of the most beautiful mornings I’ve seen in a long time, DC monuments, and photos of the Donovan House in Thomas Circle where I stayed.
Here’s wishing you a wonderful Mother’s Day from ONE.org and Laura Bush
I have learned quite a bit from traveling a lot. Last year I had a very crazy travel schedule. This year I vowed that I would not travel nearly that much unless I was traveling to an event, meeting, or conference that I just couldn’t miss. Last year it was go-go-go. This year I’ll be hopping on a plane, but only when absolutely necessary.
Which brings me to my number one travel tip for moms and anyone else for that matter.
Always get adequate sleep before traveling!
That was my biggest problem last year — not sleeping before travel. I packed all night and then hopped on a plane in the morning and by noon I was a wreck and my body felt like it. Repeat that for an entire year and you will feel miserable by December. Trust me!
And my number two tip when flying: Always make sure to drink water instead of soda, juice, wine or alcohol. Your body will thank you for that.
What are your best travel tips especially when you’re flying?
Our daughters at the Enchanted Garden Restaurant on the Disney Dream
My family and I have been vegan for about a month or so. I was a little worried that we would have a difficult time eating delicious fare on the Disney Dream, but since I have visited Disney World several times on blogger trips I knew that Disney is very accommodating with special food needs. I was extremely pleased by the food we were able to eat during our days on the Disney Dream. All of our servers were extremely accommodating to our vegan needs and made our meals real highlights of our trip. read more »
If you missed my first Disney Dream post, you can find it here. There I talk about embarking on Disney’s newest cruise ship.
On Thursday morning we docked at Castaway Cay, Disney’s own private island in the Bahamas. Here’s the view we saw when we woke up and stepped out on our verandah.
