Green Batteries

digital-aaa-pack-tn

I really don’t know much about batteries. I just buy them, keep a few packs handy for emergencies, and then throw them away when they don’t have anymore juice left. I had no idea that there were green batteries because I’ve never seen them in stores, but was pleasantly surprised to learn Fuji now creates their EnviroMax batteries.

EnvironMax batteries are environmental alkaline batteries that are eco-respectful. For those of you who know why this is important, they’re cadmium, mercury and PVC free. The packaging is also made from recycled paper and no ozone depleting compounds are used when they’re being made.

The Enviromax Alkaline battery is intended for high-drain electronic devices so I tested them out in my daughters’ Wii remotes. While I wasn’t calculating every single hour, a rough estimate is they lasted for about 56 hours, give or take an hour or two and when my daughters removed them, they weren’t completely drained.

I was pleased by how long they lasted and was happy that when I threw the batteries away I didn’t harm the environment as much as when I toss regular alkaline batteries.
